Frequently asked questions (FAQ)

What is WEPORT?

WEPORT is a Finnish port and logistics operator formed from the merger of port operations in Pori and HaminaKotka. We handle the full chain — vessel operations, cargo handling, warehousing, forwarding and on-site logistics — across two strategic locations on opposite coasts of Finland.

Does the name change affect my contracts or contact details?

No. The name changes to WEPORT — everything else stays the same. Your existing agreements remain valid, your invoicing details carry over and the people you work with day to day are the same. You do not need to do anything. If you have any practical questions about the transition, reach out to your usual contact and they will sort it out.

What services does WEPORT offer?

We offer six core service areas: port operations and crane services, container stuffing and stripping, freight forwarding and customs clearance, site services and outsourced logistics, warehousing and inland terminal services via rail. Most customers use a combination of these.

Why does operating from two ports matter?

Pori serves the west coast and HaminaKotka serves the east. Having both means your supply chain is not locked to a single location. You can route cargo through whichever port fits your schedule and destination best or use both. It also gives you a backup if one port is congested or a vessel call shifts last minute.

What types of cargo does WEPORT handle?

We handle a wide range of cargo. Forest industry cargo (round wood, sawn timber, pulp, paper rolls, pellets, plywood), bulk and chemical materials (concentrates, dry and liquid chemicals, salts, scrap metals, recyclable materials) and project and general cargo (wind turbine components, heavy lifts, containers, Ro-Ro, big bags, unitised cargo).

What is different in WEPORTs approach to serving customers?

Our operations are built around your needs, not the other way around. Before we talk about ports or equipment, we listen — what you are moving, where, and what success looks like for your business. We assign named contacts who know your operation and we stay involved after the first shipment.

Can WEPORT handle oversized or non-standard cargo?

Yes. Our crane fleet includes mobile harbour cranes up to 115 tonnes SWL and loaders up to 35 tonnes. We have handled wind energy components, heavy industrial lifts and complex project cargo at both ports. Every operation is planned in detail before the vessel arrives — weight calculations, equipment positioning, team briefings.

How large is WEPORT’s warehousing capacity?

Over 200,000 m² of covered storage across both locations, plus outdoor yard areas. We offer heated, ambient and cold storage, customs bonded facilities, and secured classified spaces for high-value or sensitive goods.

What is WEPORT’s approach to sustainability?

Environmental performance is a business priority for us, not a side note. We operate biodiesel-powered equipment and are actively investing in electrification across our fleet. Our inland terminal rail service offers a significantly lower-emission alternative to road transport. We provide emission data for customer ESG reporting and are transparent about where we are on the journey.

How quickly can WEPORT respond to urgent logistics needs?

Fast. Our forwarding and shipping team is available 24/7 and decisions at WEPORT are made by people close to the operation. We communicate proactively and flag issues before they become problems. If something urgent comes up, you will reach a person who can actually help.

How do I get started with WEPORT?

Get in touch and tell us what you need. We will listen, ask the right questions and recommend the approach that fits your cargo, your routes and your timeline. If the answer is more complex than expected, we will tell you straight.
